MY STORY

Rossella Fanelli is a multilingual and versatile singer from Italy. Currently based in Sydney, she's been working professionally in the music industry for the past 16 years.

She started to develop her vocal abilities at the age of 13 studying vocals at the well-known music school of Southern Italy, Il Pentagramma, and in 2013 she received her master’s degree in Performing Arts at the University of Bari, Italy.
She also studied the History of Music and History of Theatre in Poitiers, France, as part of the university exchange program “Erasmus”.

To extend her music knowledge, in 2015 she attended a summer school at the University of Helsinki, Finland, on the History of Music. Immediately after, she moved to London to pursue a Diploma in Vocals at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance.

From 2010 to 2013, she performed the aerial role of ‘Beatrice’ for the Apulian production Hell in the Cave. The show, set in the suggestive scenario of the Caves of Castellana Grotte, represented the Inferno by Dante Alighieri’s masterpiece poem “The Divine Comedy ''.

From 2014 until her arrival in Australia in 2017, she has worked as a singer in luxury resorts such as Thavorn Palm Beach Resort in Thailand, Palm Beach Resort & SPA in Madagascar, and Baia Samuele Resort in Sicily, Italy.
This gave her the possibility to travel all over the world and satisfy her endless curiosity about other cultures.

Moreover, Rossella has been selected as part of the Cirque du Soleil singers’ database after an intense audition process.

In 2017 she arrived in Australia and started to perform for Italian Communities becoming a prominent figure for the Italian Music Scene in Australia.
She founded the Italian duos 'Jazz Amore' and 'According to Us' which brought her to perform all over Australia for Italian Festivals and events.
She also performed for the biggest Italian organizations in Australia, such as the Italian Embassy in Canberra, the Italian Chamber of Commerce and the Italian Institute of Culture.

In 2023, after a tough audition process, she joined the well renowned 'Echoes of Pink Floyd' tribute band, and she is now touring Australia as a backing vocalist, pleasing the audience by singing one of the hardest and most mystical song of their repertoire "The Great Gig in the Sky".

ITALIAN MUSIC
In October 2017, Rossella didn't know how her life could unfold. After a gap year spent in her hometown in Puglia, South Italy, to restore herself after the previous 4 years spent working around the world, she was clueless about her future.

One night in the middle of October, she literally dreamt of going to Australia and singing Italian Music. She didn't know anything about Australia at that time, not even it was in the back of her mind. It was unbelievably far away from her.

But she woke up the next morning full of energy and adrenaline and spent the entire day researching about Australia as if she were charged by a new spark.

In one week, she had a working holiday visa approved and a flight booked, and one and a half months later she landed in Sydney in a totally adventurous way. The only thing she knew, was that 5 days after her landing she would have played for the Italian Communities at the 'Italian Forum' in Sydney thanks to a post she wrote on the Facebook Group Italians in Sydney before leaving.

She started regularly playing with De Bellis Entertainment collecting performances at the famous Italian Club in Sydney 'Club Marconi', also during Italian Republic Day 2018, and other venues like La Conca D'oro by Navarra Venues, St. George Leagues Club, and many others.

While she was also working as a full-time waitress to sustain her expenses she had the urge to start her project and play the Italian songs as she had pictured in her mind during her dream. She wanted to bring to the audience a contemporary, young, jazz, and swing sound.
She met her music partner, the guitarist Eleonora Catalano, in front of a pizza with mutual friends exactly one year after her dream. Eleonora was also looking for some musicians to play around... and the duo Jazz Amore was born.

Rossella, following her gut, managed to get their first gig without having rehearsed once! She was having dinner at The Italian Bar in Oxford Street (now closed) and she felt her duo would have fit perfectly with the atmosphere. So she spoke with the owner and somehow sold the project and got the first gig!

Eleonora and Rossella worked super hard to put together a 3 hours repertoire but their first gig was super successful, everyone enjoyed it so much. So they made a deal with the Italian Bar to perform once a month and with the material collected during those gigs, they knocked on the doors to other Italian restaurants in Sydney, starting to have their schedule fuller and fuller.

While also started to work as a singing teacher, she finally left her waitress job and dedicated all of herself to promoting her project.

Slowly her Social Media presence grew and they started receiving more requests for weddings, private parties, and festivals. Rossella was also invited by the celebrity chef Vincenzo's Plate to perform for his event in collaboration with Bulgari in Sydney and Gold Coast.

Jazz Amore gained popularity and they started to travel outside Sydney for gigs. They were invited twice to perform at Myrtleford Italian Festa in Victoria, at The Italian Institute of Culture in Canberra held by Comites Canberra, and at Cowra Civic Centre. They also collected beautiful performances at the Italian Institute of Culture in Sydney, the Italian Film Festival, the Italian Chamber of Commerce, The Star Casino, Five Dock Ferragosto, Co.As.It, Campari, SBS Italian, Norton Street Italian Festa, The Ivy, etc.

In May 2022 they were invited by Willoughby City Council to perform for Sunrise 7 during the Chatswood World Music Nights promotion time.

In August 2022 they released her first EP 'Italian Love' and organized a sold-out concert event in Glebe. They're planning to release their second EP of Italian Covers very soon.

After 5 years of playing full-time, they are now focused on sharing her knowledge related to the music business on their YouTube channel Jazz Amore.

In October 2022, Rossella also started her collaboration with the Italian Accordionist Paolo Campanari Brancondi founding their duo 'According to Us'.

The journey started with great success by playing for the Italian Embassy in Canberra during the VII Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World. They received the best compliments also from Ambassador Paolo Crudele.

In February 2023, they performed for Hobart Italian Festa in Tasmania, gaining a big appreciation from the audience.

After having played 450+ gigs overall, the journey is still on and Rossella is working every day with passion and dedication to the promotion of her projects.
